VINYL DOLLS

PHOTO FROM MY COLLECTION

1. An original portrait doll; one-year edition only; 18 1/2" tall; vinyl; dressed in a red formal gown with a white feather boa; came with a Certificate of Authenticity. Original price $75.00.

(Note: Owners of the red doll have one thing in common. Most of these dolls have a green mark around her neck from her "rhinestone" necklace. I have tried everything to remove the stain with no luck. However, I want to stress that it does not damage the worth of the doll. Not as much as actually removing the necklace would. So if you have the same problem just leave her as is. It really doesn't diminish from her beauty anyway.)

2. An original portrait doll; one-year edition only; 18 1/2" tall; vinyl; dressed in the famous blowing dress from The Seven Year Itch; came with a Certificate of Authenticity. Original price $150.00

(Note: This was the first doll released but the company had to stop producing it because of a law suit over the use of the Seven Year Itch dress. Very few dolls actually made it to the stores.)  THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE DOLLS.

Inside the tag that comes with each doll:

 "Dear Collector,

She was the greatest sex symbol of all time, whose every exploit made international headlines.  Her photos on magazine covers and the front pages of newspapers guaranteed circulation increases.  Today, twenty years after her untimely death, Marilyn Monroe is still one of the best known personalities of the century.

We are marking the occasion with our certified, one-year-only edition of the Marilyn Monroe portrait doll, the first in our Celebrity Series.  This is a superb quality doll, painstakingly modeled by one of America's leading portrait sculptresses.  A portion of the royalties will go to the Hampstead Child Therapy Clinic run by the late Anna Freud.  We are confident that Marilyn will be the pride and joy of your collection for she truly is a masterpiece of the dollmakers' art."
