Doll collectors were shocked when Franklin Mint stopped creating portrait dolls in February 2012. Luckily we did not have to wait long for someone to take over. Tonner dolls stepped in to take over with a line of their own Marilyn dolls.
While most collectors agree that the facial features of their Marilyn sculpt did not do a great job capturing her likeness - no one can deny that the quality of the dolls and details of the amazing outfits are fantastic!
The dolls are all from the following films: Love Nest, Monkey Business, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire and Niagara. It is wonderful to see them choose outfits that have never been released on a Marilyn doll before. These dolls have sold out online directly from Tonner but you should be able to find them in the secondary market on places like Ebay. I have put a * next to the dolls I own.
