If you are a new Marilyn fan looking for a first book, I would
pass on Fragments. More seasoned fans who are already familiar
with her life will get more out of this book. It features
poems, notes and random thoughts all written in Marilyn's hand.
The best part of the book is they give us the originals on one side
of the page and then just the text on the other. It is
fascinating to see Marilyn's notes.
Reading some of the fragments with arrows all over the place to
try to direct you in some kind of a logical order, was tiring after
awhile. The photos included are on the rarer side but the
focus is on the journals and diaries featured.
The most heart-wrenching part of the book for me was Marilyn's
description to Dr. Greenson of her time at Payne-Whitney's mental
ward.
